How We Select Our Schools

Only top-performing charter school operators earn grants for us.  Funding is tied to rigorous milestones for student achievement, school fiscal responsibility and school growth.

We will invest $1-5 million in each of the best school models.  Those local starts with proven track records when it comes to replicating top-performing schools, like Noble, LEARN and CICS.  We will also expand the number of great options in our city by bringing more of the best charter school organizations here from around the country – schools like KIPP and Rocketship.  And we will nurture the next generation of innovators and innovation, from turnarounds to new technology platforms, distance learning to hybrids.
